Amazon Donates 950 Tablets To West Haven Students: Report
Amazon is donating 950 tablets to the city's middle school students, thanks to an email from Notre Dame's president, according to a report.
WEST HAVEN, CT — Notre Dame and West Haven may be fierce rivals in athletics, but the president of the private Catholic school came through in a big way for the city’s middle school. Notre Dame-West Haven President Robert Curis sent an email to Amazon founder and CEO Jeff Bezos that helped lead to the company’s donation of 950 Fire tablets to Bailey Middle School students, according to the New Haven Register.
The Register reports Curis, who doesn’t know Bezos, decided to email the CEO and asked for help as the Rotary Club of West Haven was seeking donations to be matched in order to purchase technology for students in the city. While Curis never heard back from Bezos, he received a follow-up email from Amazon saying they were looking into the request, according to the Register.
The tablets are being donated through ReadyCT, a registered 501c3 non-profit, the Register reports.
