Joseph William LaPierre, age 94, of Guilford, formerly of East Haven, passed away peacefully in the company of loved ones on Tuesday, April 14, 2026, and has been reunited with his beloved late wife Mary Patricia Bond LaPierre. Joseph is survived by his five daughters and their husbands, Suzanne (Augusto) Russell, Jennifer (Bradley) Dain, Mary (Gregory) Wassil, Lucille (Jonathan) Fieldman, Anne (Peter) Scandone; 10 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; and brother, Roland LaPierre. He is predeceased by his brother, Richard LaPierre. Joseph was born in Fairfield on October 30, 1931 son of the late Joseph H. and Helen Granville LaPierre and was a proud alumnus of Fairfield College Preparatory School. He and his wife had a shared love of music; Joseph paired that passion with his love of people to build a successful career in television and stereo sales. Joseph raised his family in East Haven, CT, where he served faithfully as a deacon at Our Lady of Pompeii Catholic Church for 24 years. He retired with Mary Patricia to Cary, NC and continued to serve as deacon for ten more years at St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church in Apex, NC. Joseph returned to Connecticut to spend his remaining years in Guilford. He was a guiding light for his family and his community and will be dearly missed.
His funeral procession will leave the PORTO FUNERAL HOME, 234 Foxon Rd. (Rte. 80), East Haven TUESDAY morning April 21, 2026 at 10:30 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Pio of Pietrelcina Parish in Our Lady of Pompeii Church at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery.
