West Haven Residents Invited To Final Open House For Resilient Cove River Project (patch.com) — West Haven residents are being asked to help shape the future of the Cove River at a final open house on June 18 at City Hall. The session will showcase proposed designs to reduce flooding, restore habitat, and improve public access, while giving neighbors a last chance to ask questions and share priorities for the river corridor.
2. West Haven Man Sold Stolen Vehicle Via Facebook Marketplace, Police Say (patch.com) — A 47-year-old West Haven resident is accused of selling a stolen vehicle through Facebook Marketplace in Milford and allegedly providing a fraudulent title. Police say he turned himself in on a warrant, faces larceny and title fraud charges, and is due in Milford Superior Court later this month.
3. Grand Opening Of Eco Park Announced In West Haven (patch.com) — West Haven residents are invited to celebrate the grand opening of Eco Park, a new coastal environmental space on the shoreline that highlights native plants and habitat restoration. The June 11 event at Old Grove Park will feature a ribbon-cutting, remarks from city and Land Trust leaders, and family activities. Eco Park is designed as both a resilient shoreline habitat and an outdoor classroom for environmental education.
4. Speed cameras activated in 3 CT highway work zones. Here's how fines work (thehour.com) — If you drive through the I-95 work zone at Exit 43 in West Haven, new speed cameras are now active and will start issuing fines on July 6 for drivers going 10 mph or more over the limit. Similar cameras are also operating in East Lyme and Colchester, as the state tests automated enforcement to slow traffic and protect road crews.
5. Jury weighs fate of man accused of shooting New Haven police captain, killing West Haven man (nhregister.com) — Jurors in New Haven are now deciding the case of a man accused in a 2019 shooting that killed West Haven resident Troy Clark and critically wounded a New Haven police captain. The captain, honored for bravery after intervening while off duty, survived multiple gunshot wounds and later returned to work before retiring, while the defendant has pleaded not guilty to murder and related charges.
