WEST HAVEN, CT — Officials are advising motorists that two flood gates have been closed in West Haven due to the heavy rainfall.
“A large weather system is currently stalled over south-central Connecticut, bringing heavy rainfall and causing flooding in several areas,” Mayor Dorinda Borer wrote in a post on Facebook. “Rain is expected to continue through the late evening, and additional flooding is possible.
“For public safety, flood gates have been closed at Washington Avenue and Wood Street and at the Campbell Avenue railroad underpass. Motorists should expect detours and allow extra travel time. Busses have been rerouted at these intersections.
“Please use caution if you must travel, avoid driving through flooded roadways, and remember: Turn Around, Don't Drown.”
