WEST HAVEN, CT — The Salty Tomato Pizzeria was briefly closed after it was burglarized early Saturday morning in West Haven.
The Salty Tomato, located in the former longtime home of Domenic's Apizza at 18 Ocean Avenue in the Baybrook Shopping Center, was broken into during the overnight hours on Saturday, according to the owners.
The owners shared a photo on Facebook of a door knocked off its hinges at the restaurant.
"Thankfully, no one was hurt or injured, and that is what matters most," the owners wrote in the post. "We are working hard this morning to assess the damage, clean up, and get everything back in order…
"We are incredibly grateful for our amazing customers and community for your patience, understanding, and continued support. Your support means more to us than you know."
In an update, the owners said the restaurant was reopened from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturday.
"A huge thank you to West Haven Police Department for their quick response," the owners wrote in the post. "We also want to thank our neighbor that found our registers. From the bottom of our hearts for the messages and phone calls.
"We are praying for the person or persons that did this. We hope they fix their wrong and not do this to anyone ever again."
