Obituary: John T. Baracchi, Sr. (Porto Funeral Homes)

John T. Baracchi Sr., 99, of East Hartford, beloved husband of 77 years to Nancy Leone Baracchi, passed away on August 31, 2026 at St. Francis Hospital in Hartford. Loving father of John (Donna) Baracchi Jr. and Susan (Thomas) Carini all of Portland and Michael (Lisa Sabatella) Baracchi of Suffield. Beloved grandfather of Francesco (fiancé, Beth Calderoni) Falanga of Marlborough, Thomas (Heather) Baracchi of Southington, Arielle (Paul Sr.) Balducci of Plainville and Michael Baracchi Jr. of Enfield. John is also survived by his grandson's former wife, Michelle Falanga, who remains a loved member of the family. Cherished great-grandfather of Taylor Falanga of Colchester; Joshua, Griffin and Brody Falanga all of Marlborough; Trevor, Hadley and Harper Baracchi all of Southington; Giselle Rivera of Cromwell; Paul Jr. and Gianna Balducci of Plainville and the late Joseph Balducci. Brother of the late Rita Toce, Josephine Baracchi, Marshall and Albert Mariglione. Loving uncle of Paula (Victor) Puia and Michael (Cathy) Toce. He also leaves a very special friend, Ronnie Pelletier. John was born in Hartford on September 2, 1926 son of the late John C. and Asunta Defazio Baracchi.

John was a proud and honorable United States Army veteran who dedicated himself to serving his country as a Sergeant during World War II. Stationed in Osaka, Japan, he served with courage and distinction, carrying with him a deep sense of pride in his service to our nation. He was a long-time and devoted member of the Knights of Columbus and loved playing his guitar and harmonica surrounded by his family and dear friends. Prior to his retirement, John was a union electrician and member of IBEW Local 35 for 60 years.

Family and friends are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial in the SS. Isidore and Maria Parish at St. Paul Church, Glastonbury SATURDAY afternoon, September 5, 2026, at 12:00 p.m. Inurnment with military honors will follow in Silver Lane Cemetery, East Hartford.
