Fall is officially here in West Haven, and there's no shortage of ways to make the most of it. From festivals and farmers markets to pumpkin patches, live music and other seasonal fun, October brings plenty of reasons to get out and enjoy what's happening close to home.

There are a few more chances to shop local before the Tony Inzero Farmers Market wraps up for the season. Connecticut farmers bring homegrown fruits and vegetables while local crafters offer handmade wares, with Thursday markets held on the West Haven Green and Saturday markets next to the Oak Street Beach boardwalk. The market is open from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. through the end of its season.
When: Weekends in October, and Monday, Oct. 12, 2026, 10:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Where: The Shore Line Trolley Museum | 17 River Street, East Haven
A short trip to nearby East Haven brings families to the Pumpkin Patch Trolley 2026 at the Shore Line Trolley Museum, running weekends throughout October plus Monday, Oct. 12, 2026. Visitors can ride a historic trolley to the pumpkin patch, pick out a sugar pumpkin to take home and enjoy seasonal activities for all ages. The event runs from 10:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., with the last trolley leaving at 4 p.m., and tickets are available in advance.
When: Saturday, Oct. 24, 2026, 5 p.m.
Where: West Haven Green | 1 Church Street, West Haven
West Haven United and the City of West Haven are teaming up for some seasonal fun during Halloween On The Green. The community celebration begins at 5 p.m. on the West Haven Green, giving families a local way to get into the Halloween spirit. Additional activity and admission details were not provided by organizers.
When: Wednesday, Oct. 28, 2026, 2 p.m.
Where: West Haven Public Library | 321 Elm Street, West Haven
Pumpkins get a pint-sized makeover during Troll Doll Pumpkin Town at the West Haven Public Library. Children ages 5 to 8 can create a miniature foam pumpkin home for their very own miniature troll doll friend during the hour-long craft session. Registration is required and space is limited, so families should reserve a spot in advance.
When: Saturday, Oct. 31, 2026, 3 p.m.
Where: West Haven Public Library | 321 Elm Street, West Haven
Costumes, candy and plenty of dancing are on the agenda for the first annual Halloween Kids Ball. Families can celebrate together with trick-or-treating, music, food, games, prizes and other activities in a welcoming community setting. Costumes are encouraged, and families can register online or by calling or texting (860) 453-1770.
