Man Charged With Manslaughter In West Haven: Police

A man has been charged with manslaughter in connection to a fatal assault that occurred in West Haven: BREAKING

WEST HAVEN, CT — A city resident has been charged with manslaughter in connection to a fatal assault that occurred last month outside of Krauszer’s in West Haven, according to police.

Antoine David Smith, 36, of West Haven, was arrested on a warrant Friday and charged with second-degree manslaughter.

The arrest is the result of an investigation regarding the assault that occurred March 17 outside the Krauszer’s store on Campbell Avenue near Brown Street, according to Sgt. Charles Young.

Police responded to the area of Campbell Avenue near Brown Street at about 8:40 p.m. on March 17 on a breach of peace/assault complaint. Young previously said initial investigation revealed that a man, later identified as Anthony Carlucci, had sustained injuries as a result of the incident and later sought medical attention at an area hospital.

Several days after the initial incident, Carlucci was pronounced deceased by an agent from the hospital, according to Young.

Smith was held on a bond and is scheduled to be arraigned in Milford court today (April 12).
