Body Of Missing Woman Found In West Haven: Police

A woman was found dead one day after being reported missing, according to police.

WEST HAVEN, CT — Police are investigating after the body of a missing New Haven woman was found in West Haven on Friday.

At around 2:30 p.m. on March 3, Connecticut State DOT workers saw what appeared to be a body on the westside shore of the West River by the Kimberly Avenue Bridge, according to West Haven Police Sgt. Patrick Buturla.

Buturla said West Haven police and fire personnel responded and found the body of a dead woman, who was identified as 29-year-old Roya Mohammadi.

Investigators determined that Mohammadi was reported missing to the New Haven Police Department on March 2, according to Buturla.

The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner responded to the scene to assist and West Haven police have taken over the investigation, Buturla said.

Police are awaiting results from the Chief Medical Examiner’s office, and Buturla said more information will be released as the investigation proceeds.
