Bulk Trash Pickup Delayed In West Haven
Officials are advising residents that the city's bulk trash pickup is behind schedule.

WEST HAVEN, CT — The city’s bulk trash pickup is behind schedule due to “the unprecedented amount of bulk trash and obstacles preventing crews from collecting bulk items in a timely manner,” officials announced Friday. The bulk trash program had been scheduled to end Friday.
“When putting out bulk trash, please do not obstruct the access to your trash by parking your vehicle in front of it — this practice is significantly impeding our pickup efforts,” officials wrote in a post on Facebook. “Also, if crews cannot access your trash, they may not pick it up. Moving forward, crews will continue to pick up bulk trash through Wednesday. Mattresses and box springs are prohibited. Mattress drop-off at the city garage remains suspended until further notice due to COVID-19 restrictions.
“In the meantime, crews will finish curbside pickups for regular trash and recyclables through Saturday. Your cooperation and patience is appreciated as we work to pick up bulk trash in every neighborhood in every district.”
