Join Weathering the Storm: Get Prepared, a two-part NOAA-funded workshop series designed to help older adults prepare for severe weather events. Learn simple, practical strategies to stay safe before, during, and after storms, flooding, high winds, and power outages.
Participants will learn how to:
<ul><li>Create a personalized emergency plan </li><li>Build an effective emergency kit </li><li>Stay informed and respond to weather alerts </li><li>Prepare for unique needs, including pets </li></ul>
Older adults, caregivers, and those who support them are encouraged to attend. Members of the general public are also welcome. Hosted by UConn Extension in partnership with the West Haven Library, this series provides tools and resources to help protect you and your loved ones.

Join the West Haven Public Library as we invite Ashley Ewert from A.E. Craft Cuo to come teach us how to make a junk journal! Junk journaling is a fun, eco-friendly way to repurpose old paper, envelopes, book pages, ticket stubs, and other everyday “junk” into unique works of art. Patrons will leave this session with a journal and the tools to create their own junk journal using any "junk" they bring with them and a variety of provided supplies, including recycled paper, washi tape, stamps, and embellishments.

Summer is here and it's time for some fun! Pick up a BINGO sheet from the library and fill them out while doing fun activities around town, at home, and in the library! The theme this year is Plant a Seed, Read&nbsp;and is rooted in the concept of farm to table. Try some new activities like gardening, cooking, visiting farmer's markets, and using the library's Seed Library.
Stop by the Main Library or the Ora Mason Library to pick up a BINGO sheet to get started! Every sheet you complete and return to the library is one entry into a raffle for a chance to win a gift card.&nbsp;This year we have three different raffles you can be entered into. The Main Library and the Ora Mason Library each have one raffle that you will be entered into if you return at least one BINGO sheet to that library. (Return one or more to each library to enter both raffles and have a better chance to win!) Finally, we have a raffle for both locations. Everyone who returns five BINGO sheets will be entered into a raffle to win a $50 gift card. Please feel free to contact the library with any questions or for more information!


Participate anytime between July 1st and August 31st!&nbsp;BINGO sheets can be picked up and returned at either of our locations, 300 Elm Street, or 260 Benham Hill Road, and can be returned strategically at both for entry into more than one raffle.
