Citizens Help West Haven Police Find Armed Robbery Suspect in Orange Dollar Store
The suspect in a West Haven armed robbery fled on foot into Orange and was tracked down by police with help from citizens.

WEST HAVEN, CT — With the assistance of citizens, West Haven Police located an armed robbery suspect inside of the Dollar Store on Bill Hill Lane in Orange and arrested him on Thursday.
Dennis Hazard, 24, of New Haven, was charged with robbing Bull Hill Lane Public Storage at gunpoint on Thursday afternoon.
West Haven Police responded to the facility, located at 168 Bull Hill Lane, at about 12:08 p.m. on the report of an armed robbery.
Police said a man wearing a black hoodie with yellow writing displayed a handgun and demanded money.
After the clerk handed over the money, the suspect fled on foot. Arriving officers noticed the suspect leaving the area in a tan vehicle.
Officers attempted to stop the vehicle which fled onto Valley Brook Road where the operator lost control and the vehicle was halted and the suspect fled on foot.
Police said money and a handgun were found in the car.
WHPD and Orange police officers pursued the suspect on foot, along with K-9 Cody. With the help of citizens, police found the suspect inside the Dollar Store on Bull Hill Lane in Orange.
Hazard was charged with robbery, larceny, evading responsibility and disobeying an officer’s signal.
