Connecticut non-profit helps rehabilitate wounded Veterans nationwide

December 16th Holiday fundraiser at VFW 399 Post in Westport, 6pm-10pm

A Connecticut-based nonprofit is making a difference in the lives of wounded Veterans through therapeutic fitness and comradery.

Veteran's Rowing & Kayaking is a healing and wellness organization that helps military men and women suffering from Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) and other health related issues.

“I was seeking a new exciting form of healthy physical activity which was both healing and therapeutic and that could be enjoyed by everyone so I created the Veteran's Rowing & Kayaking program to work with the West Haven VA Healthcare population,” said President and Founder Paul Stephen Varszegi. “Many of our Veterans are amputees, blind-vision impaired or wounded warriors returning home from combat service and are disabled receiving healthcare services from the VA Hospital.”

With the generous support of donors, the organization improves quality of life for disabled Veterans through proven therapeutic fitness activities and creating unity and teamwork to reach their desired goals, growth and recovery.

Free weekly, year-round indoor and outdoor rowing and kayaking programs for disabled United States Veterans nationwide.

On December 16th, a holiday fundraising buffet dinner will be at VFW 399 Post in Westport, 6pm-10pm. $40 per person includes roast turkey, baked ham and all the trimmings. Entertainment by DJ Mr. Bob. Dancing. Cash bar. Can’t attend? Purchase a ticket for a veteran online at http://bit.ly/2gUR7o9.

“Our goal is to spread this program from VA facilities across the country and to partner with the VA Healthcare System and other non-profit organizations that share our commitment to improve the quality of recreation therapy delivery to client Veterans that focuses on mind, body and spirituality in the healing process of recovery," said Varszegi. Veteran's Rowing & Kayaking has a Gold-level GuideStar Exchange profile demonstrating its commitment to transparency. A top-rated organization on GreatNonProfits.org, the organization received a DVNF-Disabled Veterans National Foundation $15,000 grant in 2016 and $15,000 last year from the Gross Foundation. Given Limb Foundation gave $18,000 in 2014 and $8000 in 2015.
