WEST HAVEN, CT — A convicted felon was recently arrested on gun charges after a traffic stop in West Haven, according to police.

Police said a sergeant working patrol around 1:30 a.m. on Sept. 22 saw a silver GMC Terrain with heavily tinted windows and a “fictitious Georgia registration plate” traveling north on Campbell Avenue.

A motor vehicle stop was conducted nearby in the 100 block of Boston Post Road, according to police. After the stop, the driver – later identified as Jervell Joyner – got out of the vehicle and began running down an alleyway, police said.

Police said officers found the loaded gun on the ground nearby. The handgun's serial number was tampered with, and it was found to contain 14 rounds in its magazine, according to police.
