WEST HAVEN, CT — A driver was arrested after crashing into a house Tuesday night in West Haven, according to police.

Allard said an investigation found that the driver 57-year-old Domenic Broccoli was traveling at a “high rate of speed when he left the roadway.”
“The vehicle struck a trailer before veering into a nearby residence,” Allard wrote in a news release. “A gas line was located at the point of impact. The extent of damage to the gas line was initially unknown, as the West Haven Fire Department was unable to assess the line until the pickup truck was removed from the area.”

Once the pickup truck was removed, Allard said it was determined that there was minimal damage to the residence.
“The home was deemed habitable, and the residents were permitted to remain in the house,” Allard wrote.
Broccoli was arrested, issued a misdemeanor summons for reckless driving and failure to maintain lane and later taken to an area hospital for further medical treatment, according to Allard.
