Driver Found With Guns, Drugs After Crash: West Haven Police
A convicted felon was arrested after a crash in which police said he was found to be in the possession of two guns and drugs in West Haven.

WEST HAVEN, CT — A convicted felon was arrested after a crash in which police said he was found to be in the possession of two guns and drugs Saturday in West Haven.
Police responded around 8 p.m. on June 22 to a two-vehicle crash on First Avenue near Maple Street. Officers determined that both vehicles would need to be towed from the scene, according to police.
“An Officer observed a fully loaded Glock 17 firearm equipped with an extended magazine of 24 rounds and a ‘Glock Switch’ which allows the handgun to become a fully automatic firearm in one of the vehicles,” police wrote in a news release.

Police said while officers were trying to take the driver, identified as 32-year-old Brandunn Ellis, into custody, he pulled away from an officer and tried to run away.
“Officers gave chase and successfully apprehended Ellis on First Avenue near Wood Street where it was determined Ellis was in possession of a second firearm, as well as narcotics inside of a cross body bag,” police wrote.

Police said Ellis is a convicted felon with previous firearm convictions that prohibits him from possessing those weapons.
Ellis was arrested and charged with two counts each of criminal possession of a firearm, weapons in a motor vehicle and illegal transfer of a firearm, and one count each possession of a high-capacity magazine, criminal attempt at possession of a machine gun, possession with intent to sell narcotics, and interfering with an officer. He was held in lieu of a $250,000 bond.
