Father, Son Charged With Assault After SWAT Team Incident In West Haven: Police

The incident led to a response from the SWAT team and a shutdown of the area earlier this week in West Haven.

WEST HAVEN, CT — A father and son from Stratford were arrested for allegedly assaulting two men in West Haven in an incident that prompted a response from the SWAT team. At about 12:04 p.m. on Wednesday, May 31, West Haven Police responded to the Armstrong Building, located at 7 Saw Mill Road, for what was originally reported as an irate man with a gun barricaded inside the building, according to police.

Police said that it was later determined that an assault had taken place inside with one suspect armed with a handgun. Police shut down the area and rerouted pedestrian and motor vehicle traffic for safety. (To sign up for West Haven breaking news alerts and more, click here.)

“The male suspect was removed from the building safely using Police negotiators and our Special Response Team,” police said in a post on Facebook. “As part of the investigation three separate search warrants were executed by detectives, including one at a residence in Stratford.

“The handgun used during the assault was recovered, as were three additional handguns. As a result of the investigation a father and his son were arrested and charged for the assault of two male victims.”

Police said one victim suffered serious injuries while the other sustained minor injuries.

Mark J. Fabrizi, 49, of Delaware Drive in Stratford, was arrested on charges of second-degree assault with a firearm, first-degree unlawful restraint, third-degree assault, two counts of second-degree threatening and one count each of first-degree reckless endangerment and disorderly conduct.

Mark T. Fabrizi, 26, of the same address, was charged with conspiracy to commit second-degree assault with a firearm and conspiracy to commit first-degree unlawful restraint.
