Fire Displaces Person In West Haven

WEST HAVEN, CT — One person was displaced from their home after a fire Saturday in West Haven, according to officials.

Crews from all three districts responded to a structure fire early Saturday morning on Campbell Avenue at the corner of Wharton Place, according to a post on the West Haven Professional Firefighters- IAFF Local 1198 union’s Facebook page.

Officials said the fire was “kept to the room of origin by crews on scene.”

The American Red Cross is helping the displaced person, and provided assistance to meet their immediate needs. Red Cross responders included Eli Chavez, Nelson Santos, Melissa Hunter and Sheri MacKenzie.

“The Red Cross also provided a recovery envelope containing information helpful to families recovering from a fire, including tips on cleanup; notification of important contacts; dealing with damaged items and more,” according to a news release. “The Red Cross is also providing comfort kits containing personal care items such as toothbrushes, deodorant, shaving supplies and other items a resident might need when suddenly displaced from their home by a fire.”
