Former West Haven Nurse, Teacher, Realtor Dies From Coronavirus
Mary Radziszewski, 83, is remembered for her love of service to people and community while remaining active at work as well as her church.

WEST HAVEN, CT — An 83-year-old West Haven resident who worked as a school nurse and teacher at Notre Dame High School before becoming a realtor, died last week from complications from the coronavirus. Mary Radziszewski died peacefully on April 8 at Yale New Haven Hospital, according to her obituary. She is survived by three children and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, cousins. nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and godchildren.
According to her obituary, she lived her life in service to others after being born on Feb. 7, 1937 in New Haven's Cedar Hill neighborhood along with her three brothers. Her life's work including serving as an emergency room nurse after she graduated from the St. Raphael’s School of Nursing in 1957. After her family moved to West Haven in 1964, she started work at Notre Dame High School before she obtained her Masters degree at Southern Connecticut State and returned to Notre Dame as a health education teacher.
She later transitioned to serving local clients as a realtor and, according to her obituary, served her clientele with “love and expertise.” Mrs. Radziszewski was the recipient of numerous awards for her community service. She and her late husband, Walter, were dedicated parishioners at Our Lady of Victory Church, where she was an active committee member and participant at numerous church events.

She and her extended family enjoyed spending weekends at their home on Cape Cod, where, according to her obituary, she one day hoped to retire. A funeral Mass and celebration of life will be held at a later time and services and burial will be private.
