GenCyber Teacher Academy at the University of New Haven

Mehdi Mekni, Ph.D., associate professor of computer science and cybersecurity, has been awarded a grant from the National Security Agency and the National Science Foundation to host a GenCyber Teacher Academy at the University of New Haven from August 8-12, 2022.

This is a FREE professional development opportunity for 9th-12th grade teachers in Connecticut with STEM backgrounds interested in applying cybersecurity concepts in their classrooms. Prior knowledge of computing and cybersecurity is not required.

Participating teachers will receive:

· $1500 Stipend (upon completion of the program activities)

· Free Chromebook

· Lesson plans

· Certificate of Completion

· Free membership to the GenCyber Teacher Learning Community (GTLC)

The GenCyber Teacher Academy at the University of New Haven is a learner-centered, hands-on, intensive program focusing on GenCyber Cybersecurity Concepts Framework. The proposed activities include lectures, games, labs, lesson plans design, development, and evaluation supported by a K-12 pedagogy and curricula expert.
