Ice Cream Truck Stolen With $30K In Treats Inside: West Haven Police

A man was arrested after police stopped the stolen delivery truck on I-95, according to officials.

WEST HAVEN, CT — A man was arrested after police said he stole an ice cream truck with $30,000 worth of ice cream inside Monday night in West Haven.

Police received a 911 call around 9 p.m. on Jan. 29 on the report of an ice cream truck that had just been stolen from a business on the Boston Post Road.

The victim told police that he was delivering ice cream when the truck was stolen from the parking lot. The truck had approximately $30,000 worth of ice cream inside, according to police.

The delivery truck contained Shahi Kulfi products, according to a photo police posted on Facebook.

Police said several officers responded to the area to canvass for the ice cream truck.

“An Officer on duty coordinated with Troopers from the Connecticut State Police, who located the stolen ice cream truck traveling on I-95 south in Milford,” police wrote in a post on Facebook. “Officers assigned to the Bridgeport Police Auto Theft Task Force, in coordination with the Connecticut State Police were able to safely get the ice cream truck to stop on the I-95 south Exit 27A off ramp.”

Travis Jones, 35, was taken into custody without incident, according to police.

Jones was arrested and charged with larceny of a motor vehicle and first-degree larceny. He was held in lieu of a $50,000 bond.

“The West Haven Police Department would like to thank the Connecticut State Police and Bridgeport Police Department's Auto Theft Task Force for their assistance in apprehending this individual,” police wrote.
