Iconic Former Chick’s Drive-In Sells For $1M In West Haven

The landmark former seafood restaurant closed in 2015, just months after the death of its founder, Joseph E. "Chick" Celentano.

WEST HAVEN, CT — The iconic former Chick’s Drive-In property on Beach Street in West Haven has been sold for $1 million, according to New Haven Biz.

New Haven Biz reports the sale of the property, was originally listed for $1.53 million in 2016, closed late Friday and the buyer was Amico Group LLC of North Haven. The sale includes the 6,700-square foot former restaurant and the 2.5 acres of shorefront land.

One of the buyers, Christopher Marone, told New Haven Biz that a new restaurant has been discussed for the site, but no final decisions have been made.

Celentano’s sons told the New Haven Register at the time that their father wanted the restaurant to close when he died.
