Man Accused Of Crashing Into West Haven Police Car In 'Deliberate Attack'
Police said a West Haven officer was in his marked patrol car when a vehicle pulled alongside him and attempted to run him off the road.

WEST HAVEN, CT — A person was apprehended Saturday after authorities said they deliberately crashed their car into an occupied police cruiser.
According to West Haven police, an officer was in his marked patrol car near Meloy Road and Route 1 when a vehicle pulled alongside him and attempted to run him off the road.
After the officer radioed dispatch to inform them of the encounter, the vehicle followed the officer as he continued south on Meloy Road and onto Saw Mill Road.

Additional police vehicles were dispatched to assist. According to police, one of the officers was in his marked patrol car at a red light on Greta Street by Saw Mill Road when the driver of the suspect vehicle made a sharp left turn and crashed into the patrol car.
The person was apprehended following the collision, police said. Authorities did not release their name or say if they would face charges.

"Our detective division has come in to assume the investigation as this is being investigated as a deliberate attack on our law enforcement officers," West Haven police said in a statement.
