Police said hospital personnel reported a black Volkswagen had dropped the victim off and left the scene.
“The victim was confirmed to have a gunshot wound in his bicep which traveled into his chest and lodged in his back,” police wrote in a news release. “These injuries were deemed non-life threatening.”
Connecticut State Police found the vehicle traveling south on I-95, and police said it continued into Stratford, where it was “lost for a short period of time.”
Stratford Police Officers soon spotted the vehicle and followed it to a dead-end street, according to police.
Stratford officers apprehended the suspect, who was identified as 31-year-old Adam Keitt, according to police.
Police said Keitt had two outstanding arrest warrants, one issued by Bridgeport Police and another from West Haven Police for crimes unrelated to the shooting.
West Haven Police Detectives obtained a search-and-seizure warrant for both the Volkswagen and the apartment where the shooting took place.
“Located in the vehicle was a Glock .357 caliber handgun believed to be used in the shooting,” police wrote. “Also located in the apartment was an assault rifle and numerous rounds of ammunition.”
Keitt was charged with first-degree assault, carrying a pistol without a permit, illegal possession of a weapon in a motor vehicle, illegal possession of an assault weapon, illegal possession of a large capacity magazine, disorderly conduct, and reckless endangerment. He was held in lieu of a $750,000 bond.
“W.H.P.D. Thanks Stratford PD for their assistance and swift apprehension of this violent individual,” police wrote.
