Man Charged In Arson Fire In West Haven: Police

A Freightliner tractor was burned in the fire, and police said more arrests are expected.

WEST HAVEN, CT — A Hamden man has been arrested in connection with an arson fire in West Haven in November, according to police.

The West Shore Fire Department Fire Marshal’s Office, along with the West Haven Police Department, investigated an arson fire on Nov. 14 that happened at Peterson Field, 108 Bull Hill Lane in West Haven.

A 2016 Freightliner tractor was burned in the fire, according to police.

“Physical evidence was found at the scene and surveillance video evidence played an instrumental part in solving this crime,” police wrote in a post on Facebook. “After exhaustive work by the Fire Marshal’s Office and cooperation with the Kittery, Maine Police Department, as well as the New Jersey State Police, West Haven Police Detectives were able to identify the truck’s owner, Alseny Keita, of Hamden, CT, as the person responsible for the arson fire.”

Keita was arrested Dec. 29 on a warrant and charged with third-degree arson and conspiracy to commit third-degree arson.
