Man Critically Injured In Shooting In West Haven: Police
Police said an argument between two men escalated to a fight and one man pulled a gun and shot the victim, who was critically injured.
WEST HAVEN, CT — A man was critically injured after being shot Saturday afternoon in West Haven, according to police.
Police and emergency medical personnel responded around 3:50 p.m. to the area of Burger King at 644 Campbell Ave. on the report of a person shot in the parking lot, according to police.
The investigation found that two men were arguing at a nearby bus stop and it turned into a physical fight, police said.

During the fight, police said one man pulled a 9mm pistol from a fanny pack and shot the victim, a 37-year-old West Haven resident, in the pelvis.
The victim tried to get away but fell to the ground and was assaulted again, according to police.

Police said the suspect ran from the area while accompanied by a woman and a young child, who both witnessed the shooting.
The victim was treated by emergency medical personnel and taken to the hospital in “extremely critical condition,” police said.
Following an investigation by detectives and Street Crime Unit personnel, the shooting suspect was identified as 31-year-old Traevis Mingo, who was accompanied by his girlfriend, Barbie Barbosa, and her 6-year-old daughter.
Police said investigators found that Mingo was trying to sell personal property online to make money and buy bus tickets to leave the state.
Detectives drafted a search warrant for Barbosa’s residence on Winchester Avenue in New Haven, which was executed early Sunday by the West Haven Police Department Special Response Team, according to police.
Police said Mingo and Barbosa were found inside the apartment and taken into custody. Barbosa’s daughter was not present and was safe with another family member, according to police. Several items of “evidentiary value” were seized from Barbosa’s residence, police said.
Mingo was charged with first-degree assault, criminal possession of a pistol, illegal discharge of a firearm, risk of injury to a minor, first-degree reckless endangerment, and six counts of violation of a protective order, interfering with police, and disorderly conduct. He was held in lieu of a $1 million bond.
Barbosa, 29, was charged with risk of injury to a minor and held in lieu of a $25,000 bond.
“At this point in the investigation, altercation and shooting appear to be a random act of violence and the victim and suspect have no apparent connection,” police wrote in a news release.
