Man Fatally Stabbed During Fight At West Haven Bar

Police said the stabbing happened early Saturday morning at a bar on Campbell Avenue.

WEST HAVEN, CT — A man is dead after police said he was stabbed during an argument at a West Haven bar.

According to authorities, West Haven police received multiple 911 calls shortly after 2 a.m. Saturday about a stabbing at a bar in the 600 block of Campbell Avenue. When officers arrived, they found a man suffering from a stab wound to the front of his body.

Police later determined the stabbing happened when the man got into an altercation with another person.

Medics took the man to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead, police said.

Authorities did not release the victim's name or information.

Police secured the bar and surrounding area following the incident. There is no ongoing threat to the public, authorities said.

In an update, police said they developed a suspect, Omoyeni Frank, 49, of West Haven.

"It was determined that Frank, got into an altercation with the owner of The Muzeum Bar," police said. "During this altercation, Frank stabbed another man in the chest. After the stabbing, Frank left the bar and drove to his home."

West Haven SWAT was activated to execute a search and seizure warrant of Frank's address, police said. At this time Frank was not home, but he returned home as the SWAT team and police officers were there, police said. Frank surrendered, and the SWAT team took him into custody without incident, police added.

Frank was transported to the West Haven Police Department where he was formerly charged with murder and held on a $2 million bond.

Frank is scheduled to appear in Milford Superior Court on Tuesday.
