New England Brewing Co.’s Potential Move To West Haven Revived: Report
The popular brewery's proposed relocation to West Haven could have new life less than a month after the brewer walked away from a deal.
WEST HAVEN, CT — New England Brewing Co.’s proposed relocation to the former Savin Rock Conference Center in West Haven could have new life less than a month after the brewer walked away from the deal – with the help of a likely $900,000 state grant, according to the New Haven Register.
The Register reports the proposed state grant for the renovation of the former conference center is on the State Bond Commission’s agenda for Friday. A separate $600,000 grant to expand NEBCO’s craft brewing facilities is also on the agenda.
Rock Street Brewery, the developer working with NEBCO, announced last month that it was pulling out of a deal with the city to relocate the Woodbridge-based brewery. The original plans called for a brewery, but were later scaled back to a taproom amid litigation from the owners of Jimmies and the Land Trust of West Haven.

Marty Juliano, NEBCO’s director of business development, told West Haven Mayor Nancy Rossi last month that the brewery had two other offers to relocate elsewhere in the works. He did not specify where, according to Rossi.
Rossi told the New Haven Register that she would “immediately” begin negotiations with Rock Street Brewery for a new agreement and hoped to get it presented to the City Council and moved forward to a public hearing at its next meeting.
