Obituary: Albert ‘Al’ D. Chikla, 58, Of West Haven

WEST HAVEN, CT — (From West Haven Funeral Home): Albert “Al” D. Chikla, 58, of West Haven, passed away suddenly at home on April 23, 2024. He was born in New Haven, son of the late Albert and Margaret Beckert Chikla.
Al is survived by his sisters Ellen Carter of West Haven and South Carolina, Pamela Chikla of West Haven, and his nieces & nephew, Shannon Carter, David Carter, Beckie Hayes, Wendy Parente and several great nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was also predeceased by his sister Joanne Hayes.
Al was a lifelong Westie. By trade he was an auto body mechanic, but his passion was his gardening. He took great pride in his vegetable garden, sharing his veggies with his family and friends. Al had a love for fishing and in his early years he enjoyed doing so with his late brother-in-law, David Carter.
