Obituary: Charles E. Burke Jr., 89, Of West Haven

A U.S. Navy veteran, he coached in the Shore Haven Baseball League and organized and formed the first West Haven Girls Softball League.

WEST HAVEN, CT — (From West Haven Funeral Home): Charles E. Burke Jr., 89, of West Haven, passed away peacefully at his home on August 11, 2022. He was the husband of the late Dorothy Burke.

Charlie leaves a loving family which includes his three sons Michael (Ginny) Burke, Charles E. (Carol) Burke III, Martin (Cheryl) Burke; 8 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and his brothers Harry and Pat Burke. His son and daughter-in-law William and Kathy Burke predecease him.

A Navy veteran, in 1955, Charles served in Operation Deep Freeze, aboard the USS Edisto, stationed in Antarctica. He retired after many years as an installer for AT & T. He coached for the Shore Haven Baseball League in West Haven during the years boys played. With his late wife Dorothy, he organized and formed the first West Haven Girls Softball League.
