Obituary: Gloria H. Weber, 90, Of West Haven

WEST HAVEN, CT — (From West Haven Funeral Home): Gloria H. Weber, 90, long-time resident of West Haven and beloved wife of the late Joseph A. Weber, passed away on April 1, 2023, in Milford Hospital. She was born in Meriden on March 23, 1933, daughter of the late Francis and Susan Tompkinson Quarz.

She is survived by sons James of Danbury, Michael (partner, Patrice) of West Haven, and John (Conchita) of Alexandria, Virginia; grandchildren Jenny and Joseph Weber of West Haven; sister Barbara Melotto of East Haven; and many nieces and nephews. Gloria was predeceased by her daughter Linda Weber Zavatkay, daughter-in-law Patricia Weber, son-in-law Michael Zavatkay, and brother James Quarz.

After her children were grown, Gloria owned and operated a local bookstore, Churchyard Bookshop. She worked for many years at the West Haven Public Library, forging lifelong friendships with her colleagues. Gloria cherished family, friends, and detailed conversation. She loved gardening and cooking holidays dinners.

The family is grateful for the care provided by B&M Homemaking and Companion Services of West Haven.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 9-11 a.m. at the West Haven Funeral Home at the Green. Funeral Services will then commence at the funeral home at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery.
