Obituary: Grace R. Hendricks, 91, Of West Haven
"Amazing Grace, as she was affectionately known, devoted her life to her family and to the City of West Haven."

WEST HAVEN, CT — (From West Haven Funeral Home): Grace R. Hendricks, 91, a lifelong West Haven resident, entered into rest on August 18, 2022. She was the beloved wife of the late James F. Hendricks.
A daughter of the late Salvatore and Rose Zingarella Iannucci Sr., Grace was not only the matriarch of West Haven but of her loving family which includes three daughters Kathleen Hendricks, Rosemary Turcotte and Theresa (Michael) Palluzzi; 13 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren and her sister Annabelle D’Amicis. Her daughter Patricia and husband Tom Carney, son-in-law Doug Turcotte Jr., and 10 siblings Rose Milano, Carmine Iannucci, Pasquale (Pat) iannucci, Josephine Maresca, Louise Biondi, Leonora Raccio, Margaret Gennette, Elizabeth Allspaugh, Salvatore Iannucci Jr., and Barbara (Mikie) Sweetman predecease her.
Amazing Grace, as she was affectionately known, devoted her life to her family and to the City of West Haven. As a longtime member of the West Haven Democratic Town Committee, Grace worked tirelessly as a pivotal and vital campaign manager from the Robert Johnson era to the present.

As a well-respected member of the community, she served on several boards including the Police Commission, West Haven Community House and St. Lawrence Church. She received the Pauline Lang Award from the Community House and was recognized by the city as the Italian of the Year.
The hours for visitation will take place on Tuesday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the West Haven Funeral Home at the green. On Wednesday morning, please meet directly at St. Lawrence Church, St. John XXIII Parish at 10 o’clock for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in St. Lawrence Cemetery.
