Obituary: James Goldsmith, 64, Of West Haven

Jimmy worked as a contractor for several years and was the former business owner to both JG Painters and The Thirsty Turtle Cafe.

WEST HAVEN, CT — (From West Haven Funeral Home): James Goldsmith, 64, of West Haven, passed away after a short battle with cancer on April 27, 2023.

James was born on November 22, 1958. He was the son of Lillian Blasius Goldsmith and the late Robert Goldsmith, Sr., a retired West Haven Police Detective.

He was the proud and loving father of Katie (Bryan) King and Sean (Lorren) Goldsmith. His pride and joy were his grandchildren, JP (Jimmy), Mia, Bryson, and Connor, to whom they referred as “Papa.”

He is survived by his brother, Robert Goldsmith, Jr, and his sister, Kathie Goldsmith-Hawtin. He was predeceased by his brother, John Goldsmith. He is survived by his ex-wife Donna Goldsmith, with whom he continued a very caring relationship.

We will forever be grateful to his longtime companion, Bonnie Whelan, who took excellent care of him both prior to and during his illness. He was also cherished by his many nieces and nephews.

Jimmy worked as a contractor for several years and was the former business owner to both JG Painters and The Thirsty Turtle Cafe.

Jimmy’s favorite pastime was driving along the beach with his little dog, Bo, and stopping in to see his many friends at their homes, at Randall’s, and at Dubel’s.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to CT Hospice in Branford, and The Jimmy Fund.
