Obituary: Jane D. Pniewski, 75, Of West Haven
Jane was a paraprofessional for the West Haven Public Schools for nearly 30 years, finally retiring in April of 2023.

WEST HAVEN, CT — (From Porto Funeral Home): Jane D. Pniewski, 75, of West Haven, passed away peacefully on May 2, 2024 surrounded by her family following numerous courageous battles with cancer since 2005.
Jane is survived by her husband Michael Pniewski, son Jason Pniewski (Lisa Kingston) of North Haven, daughters Janna Farrell (Kevin) of Bethany, and Jessica Carmody (Eric) of Tewksbury MA, as well as her beloved grandchildren Emma, Justin, and Ryan Pniewski, Cohlton and Preston Carmody, and Georgia and Sawyer Farrell. She leaves behind her brothers Stuart Dupee (Muriel Defonzo) and James Dupee (Joyce) all of West Haven, as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Jane is predeceased by her parents Stuart and Susan Dupee of West Haven.
Jane met Michael (Mike) Pniewski, her husband, of 52 years in high school in 1965. Together Mike and Jane raised their three children in West Haven, a place Jane truly loved growing up, and continuing to reside close to its beautiful beaches.

Jane was a paraprofessional for the West Haven Public Schools for nearly 30 years, finally retiring in April of 2023. Most of those years were spent at Seth G. Haley School where she and her children had all attended.
Jane loved ice skating, walks outdoors, hockey, and Billy Joel. Sending cards, offering small gifts of gratitude or appreciation, and helping others were constants throughout Jane’s life.

Relatives and friends may call at the PORTO FUNERAL HOME, 830 Jones Hill Rd., West Haven THURSDAY from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. and are asked to go directly to the Church of the Holy Spirit, 28 Church St., West Haven for Services FRIDAY morning at 9:30. Interment will follow in St. Lawrence Cemetery, West Haven.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital at www.stjude.org.
