Obituary: John Hale Taylor IV, 69, Of West Haven

John and his brother Steve founded Taylor Business Systems in 1982, while working together in the copier and fax machine field.

WEST HAVEN, CT — (From West Haven Funeral Home): John Hale Taylor IV, 69, of West Haven, died on October 5, 2023, at Connecticut Hospice. Born in New Haven on December 20, 1953, son of the late John Hale III and Margaret (Cooke) Taylor.

Survived by his beloved wife of 44 years, Diane (Donahue) Taylor; loving children Lori Taylor (Jesse) Parente and John Hale V (Jaclyn) Taylor; grandchildren Jesse Jr., Clara, and Brennan Parente, John Hale VI, and Wyatt Taylor; brother Steve (Susan) Taylor; sister Linda Turner, as well as several nephews. In addition to his parents, John was predeceased by his sister Carol and brother James Taylor.

John and his brother Steve founded Taylor Business Systems in 1982, while working together in the copier and fax machine field. He was involved with Boy Scouts of America, earning the designation of Life Scout, and remained active in the BSA with his son.

He was an avid sportsman and fisherman and was president of the Woodmont Farmers and Sportsman Association.

John had a passion for cooking and his daughter even published a collection of recipes in a cookbook for him, which he loved to share with everyone he met. John was kind and generous to his family and friends, including the neighborhood birds and squirrels, whom he would feed daily.

John also obtained his real estate license and was a part-time real estate agent in his later years. He and his wife Diane loved to entertain, travel to visit friends, and most of all spend time with his family, especially his five grandchildren.

John's memory will remain in the hearts and minds of those he leaves behind.

John's family would like to thank the kind and caring staff at Smilow and CT Hospice for their compassion and exceptional care.

Visitation hours are from 9-11 a.m. at West Haven Funeral Home at the Green on Friday, October 13, 2023, followed by a memorial service at 11 a.m. Interment will remain private.
