Obituary: Kevin M. Byxbee, 69, Of West Haven

WEST HAVEN, CT — (From West Haven Funeral Home): Kevin M. Byxbee, 69, of West Haven, passed away peacefully at home on March 22, 2024.

For the past 48 years, he was the husband of Maureen Lahey Byxbee, who Kevin would say was the absolute love of his life.

Kevin was born in Norwalk, son of the late William “Bud” and Kathleen Waldron Byxbee. In addition to his wife, he is also survived by his children, Sara Byxbee of New Milford and Rachel Kavanagh and her husband Marc of West Haven, his greatest treasures, his grandchildren Cameron & Claire Simonelli and Nora Kavanagh, as well as his brother William Byxbee of West Virginia. Kevin was predeceased by his siblings, Robert Byxbee and Cathy Van Halsema.

He was a proud Veteran who served during the Vietnam Era, in both the U.S. Army and the USMC. Kevin's professional career entailed a few jobs. He was a former VP-Conn State AFL- CIO, secretary/treasurer of the Fairfield County Labor Council and a former business agent for Local 210.

He was passionate about the Civil War and was a guest lecturer on the subject many times.

Kevin was a member of the CT Genealogy Society, VFW, American Legion, Disabled American Veterans and Marine Corp League.

He was a true jokester at heart and was always the life of the party.

Kevin loved his family and friends with all his heart.

All Funeral Services will be private with a Celebration of Life to be held at a future date.
