Obituary: Lawrence G. Pugno, 90, Of West Haven

WEST HAVEN, CT — (From West Haven Funeral Home): Lawrence G. Pugno, 90, of West Haven, passed away peacefully on July 9, 2022. For 48 years, he was the loving husband of the late Carmela “Cookie” Mezzanotte Pugno.

Larry was born in Meriden, CT son of the late Virgilio and Anna Popik Pugno. He served his country proudly as a Sergeant in the U.S. Army, during the Korean War. Larry enjoyed his career working for the USPS, prior to his retirement. He was a devout Roman Catholic, a parishioner of St. Lawrence Church and former parishioner at St. Paul’s Church and the Church of St. Louis. Both Larry and Carmela served as Eucharistic Ministers at their Church and at the Hospital of St. Raphael’s, for many years.

Larry is survived by his brother-in-law Daniel “Butch” Mezzanotte, 2 nieces and a nephew, his cousin Kathleen Hill Jones, his good friend and neighbor Paul (Stacey Fumiatti) Lentine, good friends Elaine Lentine, and Pattie (Tony) Fusco. Larry’s family and friends would like to thank the staff at The Linden at Woodbridge for all their care and support.

Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Lawrence Church on Tuesday July 19 at 9:30 a.m. Interment will follow, with military honors, in All Saints Cemetery. There will be no hours for visitation. West Haven Funeral Home at the Green is entrusted with arrangements.
