Obituary: Marilyn R. Middleton, 86, Of West Haven

WEST HAVEN, CT — (From West Haven Funeral Home): Marilyn Ruth Middleton was born May 24,1936 in South Bronx, NY to the late Elwood A. B. Jackson Jr. and Ruth LaMotte Jackson. She attended P. S. 39 and graduated in 1954 from Walton High School in the Bronx.

Marilyn was accepted into the first class of the Bellevue Nursing School in New York. On April 22, 1966 she married James Middleton. She retired as a Licensed Practical Nurse at Yale New Haven Hospital after a 35-year career.

Marilyn enjoyed rose and vegetable gardening, traveling and being in the company of family. She was thrilled to attend graduations and weddings of her grandchildren, as well as traveling to Florida and Virginia to visit her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Marilyn battled a long illness and after being lovingly cared for by her husband of 55 years, Marilyn passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on Saturday, November 12, 2022.

Marilyn is predeceased by her brother Barry C. Jackson and her son Michael C. Hopkins. She leaves to cherish her memory a devoted, loving husband James A. Middleton, daughters Dr. Cheryl King Burley of Florida and Jeanine Middleton of California, sons Lyman Scott Hopkins of New Jersey, Daniel Hopkins of Bridgeport, nephew Aazim Jackson of Pennsylvania, grandchildren Eric Burley and wife Danielle of Georgia, Jonathan Burley and wife Monique and Sara Burley of Florida, great-grandchildren Ethan, Luke, Sophia and Zuri, cousins Jackie Lester, Ana Maria Matos, Linda Matos, Pedro Matos, as well as other family and friends.
