Obituary: Michael J. Mikenis, 71, Of West Haven

WEST HAVEN, CT — (From West Haven Funeral Home): Michael J. Mikenis, 71, passed away suddenly on July 31, 2023. He was born in New Haven, the son of the late Anthony and Elsie Lappie Mikenis.

Michael is survived by his wife of 18 years, Lori Carlson of West Haven, his son Michael Mikenis of PA, his grandchildren, his siblings Susan Neal of Cheshire and Robert Mikenis and his wife Carole of West Haven, his 4 nephews & 2 nieces.

Michael’s retail career included 30 years of management in several departments at Sears, where he worked for 30 years, before he retired from CVS. He proudly served in the U.S. Army Reserve for 6 years achieving the rank of PVT.

Michael was passionate about golfing in Myrtle Beach, hunting in Maine, lobstering and fishing in Woodmont, playing on the Westies Blue Devils Football team and his overall love of sports. His favorite pastimes were gardening and spending time with his beloved Lori.

Visitation will be held on Friday morning from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. at the West Haven Funeral Home at the Green. His funeral procession will leave the funeral home at 9:30 a.m. for a Mass of Christian Burial in St. John Vianney Church, St. John XXIII Parish at 10 a.m. Interment will follow in Beaverdale Memorial Park.
