WEST HAVEN, CT — (From Colonial Funeral Home): Otis Lee Powell III, was born on May 9, 1993 to Dawn Odom and the late Otis Powell in New Haven, CT. He attended West Haven High School and Adult Ed in New Haven where he received his High School Diploma in 2011. Otis obtained his CDL license and became a professional truck driver, driving cross country.
Otis was a very smart, charming and charismatic man. He was truly one of a kind. He was very outgoing and lived his life to the fullest. Otis was the life of the party. He was always there to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. If he cared for you, he made sure you were good at all times.
He enjoyed traveling, reading, cooking, and spending time with his friends and family, especially his daughter Sky. She was the love of his life.

Sisters Rhonda Mcdougal of Hamden, CT and Zanaya Powell of New Haven, CT. Brother Kamal Powell of Detroit, MI. Nephew Eli Mcdougal of Hamden, CT. Girlfriend Donette Lewis of New Haven, CT. Grandmother Diane Hart of Waterbury, CT., and Grandfather Gene Mcdougal of Reston, VA. Aunts Jill Mcdougal of New Haven, CT, Chandra Collins-Poole, and Crystal Taylor of Detroit, MI. Special Aunt Latasia Powell of Detroit, MI. God mother and God father Michelle and Gene Ledbetter of Atlanta, GA. His second mom, Virginia Williams of New Haven, CT. Godson Quincy McIntyre; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Otis was predeceased by his son, Otis Powell IV and his father, Otis Powell Jr. Also predeceased by paternal grandmother Mary Jeanette Powell and one Brother Travis Washington.

A Celebration of Otis’ life will be held on Thursday, December 7, 2023 at 11 a.m. at St. Matthews Church, 400 Dixwell Avenue, New Haven, CT. Viewing in Church from 10 a.m. – 11 a.m. Burial will follow at Beaverdale Memorial Park.
