Obituary: Patricia A. Smith, 84, Of West Haven

She was a parishioner of Our Lady of Victory Church and worked as the rectory secretary for many years.

WEST HAVEN, CT — (From West Haven Funeral Home): Patricia A. Smith, 84, passed away peacefully at home on Oct. 24, 2022. For 64 years, she was the loving wife of the late Edward M. Smith.

Patricia was born in New Haven, daughter of the late William and Marion Brennan McCarthy. She is survived by her children, Regina Smith of West Haven, Terance Smith of Hamden and Kelly (John) Dwyer of Guilford, her grandson Kyle Dwyer, her feline companion Sammie and many nieces and nephews.

Pat was predeceased by her son Richard Smith and her siblings MaryAnne Battista and William McCarthy Jr.

She was a parishioner of Our Lady of Victory Church and worked as the rectory secretary for many years.

Pat enjoyed planting and gardening, she was a member of the West Haven Garden Club and volunteer for many hours at Connecticut Hospice, Branford.

She took great joy decorating her home for every holiday. Pat loved her animals, she would feed anything that walked on up onto her deck.

The family would like to thank the excellent staff of HCP for all their care and compassion during this difficult time and very heart felt thank you, to Nora from Life Time Care at Home.

Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Nov. 5 at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of Victory Church, West Haven. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Patricia’s name to HCP – Community Healthcare and Hospice, 753 Boston Post Rd. Suite 200 Guilford, CT 06473 or a local animal shelter of one choice.
