Obituary: Peter Daniel DeBassio, 57, Of West Haven

WEST HAVEN, CT — (From Cody-White Funeral Home): Peter Daniel DeBassio, 57, of West Haven, passed away on March 21, 2023. Born on January 16, 1966 in Framingham, MA, he was the son of Paul and Eleanor (Brown) DeBassio Sr.

Peter graduated from Framingham North High School in Framingham, MA. He earned his Bachelor’s degree in Human Sciences from Quinnipiac University and worked for the CT Department of Mental Health and Department of Children & Family Services before going into education.

Since 2003, Peter was working as a 6th Grade science teacher at East Shore Middle School. Peter’s entire career was based on serving and caring for others.

In addition to his parents, Peter is survived by his children, Paul, Peter, and Ana; his former spouse and the mother of his children, Bessie DeBassio and in-laws, Petros and Aspasia Tsakonas; his siblings, Elaine (Bjorn) Kapstad, and Paul (Susan) DeBassio; his nieces and nephews, Jake, Nick, and Amanda Abraham, Bjorn, Jr., Christian, and Libby Kapstad, and Joe (Brianna St. Clair) DeBassio; his aunts and uncles, Dan (Sully) DeBassio, Arlene Bevilacqua, and Vicki (Paul) Dube; and many cousins and extended family members.

Peter was known by all those he touched as the most thoughtful and caring person. He was an avid Boston Bruins and New England Patriots fan and enjoyed time with his family and extended family on Newfound Lake, NH.

Friends and family may call on Tuesday, March 28, 2023, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the CODY-WHITE FUNERAL HOME, 107 BROAD ST., MILFORD, CT. A Funeral Service will be celebrated on Wednesday, March 29, 2023, at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. The funeral service will be Live Streamed. The recording will be available for 90 days after the service. Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hole in the Wall Gang Camp.
