Obituary: Starr L. Suslew, 36, Of West Haven

WEST HAVEN, CT — (From Keenan Funeral Home): Starr Lynn Suslew, 36, of West Haven, passed away on December 7, 2023 in Yale New Haven Hospital.

Starr was born in New Haven, CT to Cathy (Esposito) Suslew and Lawrence Suslew on July 12, 1987.

She attended West Haven High School.

Starr was a very devout Christian woman with a very strong faith, who honored and served her Lord in everything she did in her life.

She was an active member of Engaging Heaven Church and was so loved by the entire congregation, who were her second family.

Starr was an amazing mother, daughter, sister, granddaughter, niece, aunt, cousin and friend. She had a great sense of humor and could bring laughter into any situation. Her smile lit up a room, and her laughter was contagious. She had a love for babies and the elderly that would always bring a smile to her face. She affected and inspired the lives of everyone she met and left a lasting impression on all. She will be deeply missed, and it will be an impossible void to fill.

She was a cashier at Stop and Shop on Elm St. West Haven, CT. for 11 years. She loved her co-workers and customers very much and was a very dedicated employee. She had such a fan club there, as in the words from her son Christian, she was "famous", because everyone knew her and loved her!

Starr's legacy will continue through her sons Christian Shealy, and Anthony Holmes, whom she cherished and had an unconditional love like no other, her mother, Cathy Suslew and stepfather Austin Johnson, her father Lawrence Suslew, her grandmother Arleen Esposito, Aunts: Marie (Kenny)Dubin, Janet (John) Kish, Laura (Bert) Daigle, Angel Trapani, and Samantha Abbruzzese. Cousins: Elysia, Richard, Rachael, Becky, Eddie, Jenn, Matt, Pauli, Logan, Sophia, Genna, Michelle, and her beloved nephew Mikey Gibbons.

She was predeceased by her sister Jessica Suslew, grandparents Richard Esposito, and Robert & Harriet Suslew, and her cousin Anastasia Trapani.

Calling hours will be held at Keenan Funeral Home 238 Elm St. West Haven, CT 06516 on Saturday, December 16, 2023 from 12 noon – 2 p.m. followed by a celebration of life service at 2 p.m.
