Obituary: William Blake Shea, 74, Of West Haven

Bill served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. An electrician by trade, he was a proud member of I.B.E.W. Local 90.

WEST HAVEN, CT — (From West Haven Funeral Home): William Blake Shea, 74, of West Haven, passed away with family by his side at home on May 1, 2023. For 48 years he was the loving husband of Joan Vespi Shea.

Bill was born in New Haven, son of the late William and Ruth Blake Shea. He is survived by his wife, children Will Shea (Nicole Conti Shea), and Allison Shea Maass (Eric Maass); beloved grandchildren Cooper and Luca Shea; and his younger siblings, John T. Shea (Susan) and Marlane Hynes. William was predeceased by his brother-in-law Kevin Hynes and his niece Katy Shea Butts.

Bill served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. An electrician by trade, he was a proud member and supporter of I.B.E.W. Local 90. An avid gardener, Bill enjoyed watching tomato plants mature from seed and sharing the harvest with his many friends. Bill enjoyed spending time on the golf course with friends.

Bill was a man who was always listening and chose his words wisely. He was loved, respected, and admired. He will be sorely missed by all who knew him.

The hours for visitation will be held on Monday from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the West Haven Funeral Home at the Green. Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday, May 9 at 10:30 a.m. at St. John XXXII Parish, St. Louis Church. Military honors will be rendered following the service. Interment will be private.
