Pair Caught Stealing Cell Phones in Identity Theft Scheme: West Haven Police

An alert resident notified police after receiving a package of cell phones he didn't order and noticed two people waiting in a car nearby.

WEST HAVEN, CT — Two New Jersey residents face several charges after police say they were using stolen credit cards to order cell phones and send them to various addresses and then take the packages when they were delivered.

Both Alana Pickett, 47, and Aminah Coley Reynolds, 29, were arrested Monday after a resident received a package of cell phones that he didn’t order, according to police.

While getting the package, the resident also noticed that two people were in a vehicle outside his address and called police.

West Haven Police then located the pair in their vehicle in the area with other packages of cell phones and false identifications.

“After an investigation, it was learned these individuals would use stolen credit cards, order phones and send to addresses,” police said in a post on Facebook. “As the packages arrive they would take them, or follow a delivery carrier and identify themselves with the stolen Identification and credit card that would match the name and addressee of the package as the owners of the package.”
