Pedestrian Dies After He's Struck By Car In West Haven: Reports

Authorities received several calls Friday about a pedestrian who was hit by a car near Derby and Central avenues, reports said.

WEST HAVEN, CT — A man died after he was struck by a car while walking on the shoulder of a West Haven road on Friday night, according to reports citing police.

Authorities received several calls around 10:40 p.m. about a pedestrian who was hit by a car near Derby and Central avenues, NBC Connecticut reported.

After arriving at the scene, police found a man “lying on the side of the road unresponsive,” West Haven police Sgt. Scott Allard told the New Haven Register. First responders aided the man before taking him to a hospital, where he died from his injuries, reports said.

Authorities did not release the man's name pending notification of family.

According to NBC Connecticut, police said the man was hit by a vehicle traveling east on Derby Avenue. The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators.
