WEST HAVEN, CT — The idea for the “Pizza Donut” came to West End Bistro chef/owner Jeff Lamberti in a dream and it has since become reality, and an Internet sensation. Locals that frequent West End Bistro, 551 Main Street in West Haven, have already become familiar with the goodness that is the Pizza Donut, but ever since Circa.com posted video of Lamberti’s creation, the interest has exploded.
Jeff Lamberti, who co-owns West End Bistro with his wife Lynnette Lamberti, told the New Haven Register that the video has generated interest in the Pizza Donut from well beyond the immediate area and that a man drove down from Hartford on Sunday to buy eight Pizza Donuts because he saw it on the Internet. Lamberti says the recipe for the Pizza Donut came to him in a dream and that it is inspired by his love of carnival fried dough.
