Popular Italian Ice Shop Closes In West Haven

WEST HAVEN, CT — Bad news for West Haven residents who were looking forward to celebrating the spring season with an Italian ice at Rita’s in Baybrook Plaza. Rita’s announced in a post on Facebook on Tuesday that it will not be reopening its West Haven store, located at 28 Ocean Avenue, this season

“Thank you to all of our loyal guests for always filling our store with smiles,” according to a post on the Rita’s Facebook page. “It has been a pleasure to serve Ice, Custard and Happiness to each of you. Unfortunately, Rita's of West Haven will not be re-opening this season. We will miss you all very much...our store was filled with lots of love and happiness and we hope that you will treasure the memories as much as we do.

“We still have 2 locations open, Rita's of Bridgeport (1055 Huntington Turnpike, across from Vazzys and Treeland) and Rita's of Shelton (783 River Road, across from the Sportscenter). We hope that you will come visit us there...we promise the same great treats and extra happiness for our Westies! And we can still take care of all your catering needs!
