Resident Displaced After Kitchen Fire In West Haven

Crews extinguished an early morning kitchen fire in West Haven, according to officials.

WEST HAVEN, CT — A resident was displaced after a kitchen fire early Sunday morning in West Haven, according to officials.

Crews from the West Shore Fire District and West Haven Center District fire departments were dispatched at 6:32 a.m. on Jan. 25 to a home on Shingle Hill Road on the report of a structure fire, according to West Shore Fire District Chief Rafael Zayas.

Arriving crews met with the occupant, who said that her kitchen was on fire, according to Zayas.

“Crews entered the residence, encountered smoke conditions, and declared a working fire,” Zayas wrote in an email. “Firefighters were able to contain and bring the fire under control within seven minutes.”

Zayas said one occupant was displaced as a result of the fire.

No injuries to occupants or firefighters were reported, according to Zayas.

The incident is being investigated by the West Haven Fire Marshal’s Office.
