Savin Rock Festival Draws Thousands For Annual Event
The Savin Rock Festival featured plenty of musical acts, amusement rides and food trucks.
WEST HAVEN, CT — Thousands of people turned out for the two-day Savin Rock Festival in West Haven. The festival opened Friday, July 29.
The event featured rides by Marenna Amusements, eight food and six dessert trucks, according to a city news release. Radio personalty Brian Smith served as the master of ceremonies for the fifth year.
Lifeguards Issac Gorske, 20, and Lauren Blake, 16, and Madison Hobart, 18, were recognized for two recent rescues on Oak Street Beach. Gorske and Hobart rescued a drowning 11-year-old boy June 29 and Blake rescued a drowning 8-year-old girl July 7.

The Savin Rock Festival debuted in 1982 and was established by the Chamber of Commerce.
The University of New Haven was the festival title sponsor. New England Brewing Co., Industrial Recycling, Sabatino Tartufi, Frankson Fence Co. and Baybrook Remodelers Inc. also sponsored the event.
